SM-62 Strat Pickup Set MK2 – Vintage 1962 Stratocaster Pickups

Experience the character of an authentic early-60s Strat with the SM-62 Strat Pickup Set MK2, handcrafted in the UK by MF Guitar Products.

The SM-62 MK2 was reverse-engineered from Scott McKeon’s 1962 Strat, using detailed testing of the original pre-CBS pickups to recreate their response, feel and vintage character as closely as possible.

Built for players searching for genuine vintage Strat tone, the SM-62 MK2 features Alnico 5 magnets and Heavy Formvar coil wire, recreating key characteristics associated with original 1960s Stratocaster pickups.

The magnets have a strong gauss, while the MK2 design also replicates the way some of the original magnets had naturally moved downwards over time. This attention to detail helps capture the distinctive response of an original pre-CBS Strat rather than simply producing another modern interpretation of a vintage-style pickup.

Authentic 1962 Strat Pickup Design

If you’re building a vintage-inspired Strat, restoring a pre-CBS-style instrument or simply looking for more authentic 1960s Strat tone, the SM-62 MK2 is designed with that goal in mind.

Each set is handmade to order in the UK, with careful attention given to the materials, winding and construction of the original pickups.
